Who We Are

We bring together a diverse set of skills with decades of private equity investment experience and entrepreneurial exposure. Our style might be described as contrarian. We don’t do “death by PowerPoint” and regard “best practice” as a flawed construct. We focus on building alignment, both financially and energetically, and fomenting creative thinking.

Nick Hudson

Nick spent a decade at RMB Ventures, a successful South African private equity house, partnering with owner-managers to produce excellent returns. Prior to RMB, Nick worked at Stern Stewart & Co. in New York City for four years, ultimately heading up its corporate finance practice, and for the Swiss Re group for six years. For the time being, he is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

His after-hours activities including harassing global totalitarians by poking holes in their one-size-fits-all policies, trail running, exploring wild places and supporting the wine industry.

Bernard Sellmeyer

After graduating with a BCom (and a marketing post grad) from UCT, Bernard went into his first entrepreneurial venture importing refurbished IT equipment. He then completed an MBA at UCT and accepted a role in the Corporate Finance division of Mazars where he spent five years. In 2011, Bernard started Oakmont Capital, an advisory firm focussed on private equity deal origination.

Bernard is a lifelong Capetonian who solves world problems on the mountain, at sea, or in negotiation with his three young children (and young wife).
